Pit Rocks
Written by Administrator
The Pit is essentially west London’s, premier, regional rock club. London has many little pockets of rock history, some of which are not as well know as others. For instance, in one very local area, Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) was born and bred, not knowing that his guitar sparing partner in years to come, Richie Blackmore, would go to school round the corner, while Jimmy Page (Led Zep) also hails from the area, Phil Collins lived in the area during his core Genesis years and so it goes on.... it pleases us that the Pit re-started after a months holiday in this same area, known as Hounslow in Middlesex on Saturday the 8th of April 06.

What continues to pleas us is that we have secured a regular venue base, which itself is steeped in rock history, in that that this was the very first venue in the UK that a newly arrived and fresh faced Jimi Hendrix played, having just stepped off a plane in Heathrow. So the brand new venue for the Pit is The Duke of Cambridge in Hounslow.

The full address is 3 Kingsley Road, Hounslow, Middlesex, TW3 1PA

The venue is at the back of the huge Hounslow bus garage / station, a centre for almost all the day and night buses for the greater area and just a few minutes saunter up the road from Hounslow East Underground station on the Piccadilly line to Heathrow, which makes it probably the best ever public transport connected venue we have ever been in.

For those coming to by car, there are two public car parks across the road, both monitored with CCTV, also straight across the road are a licensed cab company and a late night takeaway food shop and there is secure bike parking at the back of the venue, as well as limited parking at the front. We think we have catered for a lot of everyone’s needs.... did I mention the beer garden, video screens, pool table and “Pit Art”© ?

Redline Productions Ltd, teamed up with the present venue owners during the purchase and worked with them in completing a number of changes to the layout of the venue which all took place “just” before opening night of the 8th April 2006.

Building on the Pit's extraordinary legacy of delivering a safe, fun, rock show reflecting all manner of rock styles in the Red Lion in Brentford, John Bull in Chiswick and The Black Horse in Richmond, the Redline team continue to join together with the wistful ghost of James Marshall Hendrix and yourself in creating a blinding regular Saturday night suburban rock club.
